We’ll discuss what’s and why’s of open data, why it’s a big deal both in Canada and WorldWide, how it fits as part of Open Gov initiatives as well as how private companies and organizations can find business opportunities to use open data, talk about developer opportunities with open data in Canada, walk through some examples & talk about short term and long term views on development in the open data space.

Biography:

Professional geek, technology evangelist, open source strategist, open data enthusiast, web developer and consultant and marketing professional. Nik is the founder of OpenHalton.ca, and works as the Open Source Strategy Lead at Microsoft Canada (Port25.ca) responsible for building relationships with the local Open Source developer and Open Government communities.
