Eco Startup Celebrates 2 Years Diverting 1 Million Pounds from Landfill

REfficient, an online B2B reuse marketplace, celebrates its two-year anniversary with impressive momentum, showing that companies driving sustainability really can succeed.

With customers in seven countries on three continents (view customer map), REfficient has helped businesses divert over 1 million pounds from landfill and save hundreds of thousands of dollars off of equipment costs by purchasing pre-owned or used equipment for sale. “Our customers clearly love what we offer. They can save money and feel good that they are doing something positive for the environment. This is seen through our impressive repeat customer rates,” says Stephanie McLarty, CEO.

Founded in July 2010, REfficient matches buyers with companies’ surplus inventory, connects them to responsible recycling solutions, and provides Go Green sustainability reporting. “It’s like going shopping in other companies’ surplus inventory. This helps companies save while keeping product in use so it’s good for the bottom line and the environment,” adds McLarty. The company primarily focuses on telecom equipment – such as Motorola cable boxes DCT6200, DCT6208 and Trango antennas – as well as surplus audio visual, IT and contractor supplies.

As part of their anniversary, REfficient is launching The REvolution Project – an online, multimedia campaign designed to break through the stereotypes of the Reduce-Reuse-Recycle concept. “By showing meaningful examples of what others are doing and why the 3Rs make sense, we are changing those paradigms and challenging companies to take part in the REvolution,” McLarty explains.
