New Motto and WPTeach Intro to WordPress workshop on October 12th

New Motto has partnered with Al Davis, owner of WPTeach, to bring a groundbreaking workshop to the #HamOnt community. This workshop is designed to make you a confident and competent WordPress user in a single day. Our Introduction to WordPress workshop is a 6-hour one-day class that will teach you the following:

Introduction to WordPress
Course Content

  1. Introduction to domain names and hosting
  2. How to install WordPress
  3. Getting familiar with the dashboard
  4. Setting up your WordPress site
  5. Creating contentCreating menus for your site
    • The visual editor and publish page
    • Difference between pages and posts and how to use them effectively
    • Categories and tags
    • Handling Media
      • How to insert Images
      • How to create basic photo galleries
      • Embedding video
  6. Themes and Plugins
  7. Create a simple form

Why should you take this course?

This course is the result of Al Davis’s 3 years of teaching WordPress in a college classroom environment. Not only is the material field tested for it’s relevancy, Al also has tremendous experience teaching to diverse groups of students.

There will be a maximum of 6 students in this workshop, so that everyone has plenty of opportunity to ask questions throughout the day. Al is an experienced teacher, speaker and curriculum developer whose first goal is to provide my students with a fun environment to learn in.

  • Pdf copy of the course material, emailed to you in advance of the course, if you wish to print it and use it for note taking the day of the course.

What you’ll need

  • You’ll need to bring your own laptop, with power cord. It also needs to be able to connect to wireless internet. (Free WiFi will be provided).
