Hydromantis releases Toxchem Version 4.3
(Hamilton, ON Canada) – Hydromantis Environmental Software Solutions, Inc. (Hydromantis), the leading global provider of water and wastewater simulation software and professional modeling services, announced today the latest release of their air emissions and trace contaminants fate modeling tool, Toxchem™ v4.3. Toxchem™ was the first commercially available simulator for predicting air emissions and the fate of trace contaminants in wastewater treatment plants. It continues to be the most advanced solution approved by the US EPA for the reporting of emissions of organic compounds from secondary wastewater treatment units.
Toxchem™ v4.3 adds several new unit processes and new interface functionalities to model plants in more detail. The units processes added to the new release include the Bar Screen, Weir, Closed Surge Tank, Floating Roof Tank, Membrane Bioreactor and Scrubber. The issue of modeling of air emissions of organic compounds from an oil layer floating on a water surface is of growing concern. In the new version of Toxchem, four procedures for estimating emissions of organic contaminants from a floating oil layer are provided. The first approach is based on mass transfer principles similar to volatilization from a water surface. The additional procedures are provided based on 1) an EPA approach as defined the in the document “Air Emission Models for Waste and Wastewater” (EPA, 1994), 2) a modified EPA approach and 3) application of direct experimental mass transfer coefficient in the emission calculations. “In this Toxchem™ release, we have tried to address a few of the most important needs as voiced by our customers in the last few years through some significant development”, said Dr. Rajeev Goel, Hydromantis’ President. On the interface side, the extended functionality of the Back-Solver to solve for flow rates and the functionality to manipulate the contaminant properties on the Quick Adjust Panel are expected to save on modeling time.
For environmental engineers looking to quickly and easily conduct air emissions inventories for treatment facilities, optimize pre-treatment programs, address challenges in meeting effluent or bio-solids concentration objectives or considering alternative plant designs and models, Toxchem™ provides fast results while reducing costly laboratory analysis and minimizing the risk of errors in hand calculations and spreadsheets. Toxchem™ continues to be the only software solution of its kind that offers both professional technical support and regular annual releases to keep pace with the changing needs of the industry.
