Get involved and make a change in Hamilton: this is the essence of the Hamilton HIVE. On Saturday October 18th Hamilton is, was, and will be Canada’s “Ambitious City,” and with 2014 being a municipal election year, the feeling of ambition in Hamilton is palpable. Yet, what does this mean to Hamilton’s young leaders, professionals, and entrepreneurs? What does this mean to their careers, their community, and to the broader socio-economic development of their city? Moreover, how does one properly balance both thought and action, in the ambitious pursuit of goals?
On October 18 Hamilton HIVE seeks to address these issues and more.
Last year, HIVEX 2013: Click Here built on the strong reputation of the conference by offering a highly engaging program to a growing constituent of high-energy, Hamilton-area emerging leaders. This year’s event, to be held at The Sheraton Hotel Hamilton, will feature a thrilling slate of speakers and moderators, civic-engagement, career, and business focused workshops, as well as an exciting and informative Mayoral Debate to be held in the City Centre, Jackson Square. The day will end off with attendees enjoying their city’s cultural offerings at the official after party hosted by the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra. In partnership with hpoGO, the HPO’s young patrons program, HIVEX attendees will enjoy the HPO concert Ray Charles: A Tribute immediately followed by a Motown after party in Hamilton Place where guests will have the opportunity to meet musicians while listening to DJ Andy Inglis spin the best Motown and Soul hits.
In its fourth year, the annual conference is fast becoming a landmark event in the Golden Horseshoe region, as it attracts both attendees looking to advance themselves and the Hamilton community, as well as those who look for ways to attract, retain, engage, and develop young leaders. Hamilton HIVE is a local network of young professionals and entrepreneurs that provides a gateway to access a range of business, social and learning opportunities. Its mission is to attract young professionals in Hamilton by advancing their civic, social, education, and career development.
