New job board

Check out the new Software Hamilton Job Board!

Five years ago when this scrappy little blog started up (woah, time flies), I added a job board thinking it might be a neat feature. The first year there was only about a dozen postings, but in 2012 it picked up, and 500+ job postings and thousands of applications later it had grown into something larger than anticipated.

I ended up switching the job board plugin to WP Job Manager, which should be up to the job (pun intended) better than the previous technology.

It allows users to submit jobs without having to register, but it gives users the option to register in a follow up e-mail. This was pretty key because, 1) most users hate registering to submit a job, 2) job postings sometimes have mistakes, or become filled earlier than expected, and users want to edit/delete. This solution seems like the best of both worlds… post easily, but edit/delete is possible if need be.

This job board is better for a lot of little reasons too – like less restrictive logo uploads, a WYSIWYG editor that allows for better formatting, the option to link to e-mail or a URL for the application, cleaner interface, etc.

The new job board also has co-founder, freelancer, equity for pay, internship/co-op, volunteer, contractor/temporary, and other options. So please do use the job board for these sorts of gigs as well!
