Sarah English
Armed with deep expertise in user-centered design, Sarah has spent well over a decade helping organizations create beautiful, usable interfaces to complex systems.
Her unique design perspective comes from both educational and practical experiences in a wide variety of disciplines. With degrees in biopsychology, sociology and education, she began her career with varied perspectives and a deep appreciation for human behavior, keen awareness of social impacts of technology, and a desire to collaborate and share knowledge. Some of her early professional roles include software modeler, business analyst, database developer and instructional designer.
Sarah’s DIY and entrepreneurial leanings were put to good use in 2002 when she co-founded Usability Matters. Since then, she’s applied her sharp eye and keen work ethic to projects ranging from interaction-rich software design to fun, playful digital products.
In addition to working at UM, Sarah is on the advisory board for two digital programs at Humber College, and has taught information architecture and usability courses at Centennial College. An enthusiastic teacher, she still guest-lectures whenever she can.
As the current Managing Director of Usability Matters, Sarah handles the operational side of the business, continuing to grow the reputation, culture and capabilities of the studio.
