REfficient Wins 1Awards Competition

1awardHamilton, Ontario – May 13, 2013 – REfficient has garnered another business award, winning the 1Awards business competition for companies with measurable growth. REfficient now has customers in 10 provinces and territories, 24 US states and 9 other countries, and has doubled its workforce in the last year.

Launched in 2010, REfficient is an online marketplace allowing companies to go shopping in other companies’ surplus inventory for Telecom and AV equipment. Customers can also resell and recycle via the company’s platform, and receive sustainability reporting for their Corporate Responsibility reports. REfficient now counts many of Canada’s largest telecom companies as customers and has diverted more than one million pounds of ewaste from landfill. REfficient recently became Hamilton’s first Certified B Corp.

Now in its second year, the 1Awards Competition focuses on Hamilton-based companies that have produced quantifiable growth. The contest is funded by First Ontario Credit Union and the Hamilton Spectator, as well as Play Advertising, Mohawk IdeaWorks, Grant Thornton, AgroZaffiro and Weever Apps. Three companies were chosen as winners. REfficient will use the awarded $39,000 in cash and prizes to fuel the company’s expanding footprint.
