Douglas Engelbart passes away at 88

Douglas Engelbart passed away yesterday. He was a user interface pioneer, most famous for having invented the computer mouse, but also the development of hypertext, networked computers and early graphical user interfaces. Check out the video below to see Douglas demoing his work back in 1968 – ideas that were groundbreaking at the time.

Video Description: “The Mother of All Demos is a name given retrospectively to Douglas Engelbart’s December 9, 1968, demonstration of experimental computer technologies that are now commonplace. The live demonstration featured the introduction of the computer mouse, video conferencing, teleconferencing, hypertext, word processing, hypermedia, object addressing and dynamic file linking, bootstrapping, and a collaborative real-time editor.”
