“Click Here” tends to be a boring, ubiquitous phrase that, more often than not, we simply glaze over.
Yet, throughout any given day, it also has the potential to drastically change the course of our lives. Whether submitting an application, sending an email, making a booking, or logging into social media, it is the unassuming digital door-way to whatever might come next.
Whether the next step is natural, logical, powerful, or inspirational, are you sure of what comes next for you, and what comes next for Hamilton?

Neither are we. Click Here to find out.

HAMILTON HIVE & HIVE X

Hamilton Hive’s “Hive X” is a conference for young professionals, leaders, and entrepreneurs in the Greater Hamilton Area.
This annual conference is fast becoming a landmark event in the Golden Horseshoe region, as it attracts both attendees looking to advance themselves and the Hamilton community, as well as those who look for ways to attract, retain, engage, and develop young leaders.
Last year’s HiveX 2, built on this reputation, by offering a highly engaging program to a growing constituent of high-energy, Hamilton-area emerging leaders. This year’s event, to be held on Saturday, October 26th, at Hamilton’s Sheraton Hotel, will feature a thrilling slate of speakers and moderators, civic-engagement, career, and business focused workshops, as well a conference “grand finale” key-note and social event, to be held on the 21st floor of Hamilton’s iconic Stelco Tower.

#HIVEX 2013 SCHEDULE OCTOBER 26TH 2013

WELCOME AND MORNING KEYNOTE – CHARLIE HENDERSHOTT (9:00 – 9:45)

EFFECTIVELY DISENGAGING PEOPLE TAKES WORK

There are presently a lot of books being written and theories being discussed regarding Engagement. However, there is little being talked about regarding the forces that create disengagement. In my tongue and cheek presentation I will present a framework that focuses on the levers we pull everyday in our communities, workplaces and with each other that cause a sharp decrease in the levels of engagement we bring forth. By doing so I will show how our practices and habits continue to de-personal our experiences when in fact what is required is the exact opposite in order for us to fully bring ourselves to our relationships and work

A) BUSINESS IDEATION AND CREATION (10:00 – 11:30 AM):

This workshop will be focused on the successful building of a business, and its evolution. Exploring topics related to the exploration of niches, establishing of a business, planning, pivoting, growing, evolving, and more. This workshop, unlike the one below, will function more like an “engaged-lecture” with the speaker(s) presenting their perspectives and learnings to the audience, and engaging with them on any questions they have following the presentation. Full detailed topic to be determined by the speaker, with any assistance from the conference coordinators.

NOTE that this workshop runs concurrent to one on the topic of Good Citizenship Building, exploring civic-engagement and volunteerism opportunities in the community.

B) CITIZEN BUILDER WORKSHOP (10:00 – 11:30 AM):

This workshop will be structured like a Good Citizenship “speed-dating” session, with representatives from different non-profits, local social agencies, and prominent leaders in the community, situated around tables and discussing topics related to civic-engagement, volunteerism, and contributing to the Hamilton community. Delegates will have the opportunity to move from table to table, so there should be a lot of high-energy conversation on the topic of good citizenship in all it’s various forms.

NOTE that this workshop runs concurrent to one on the topic of Business Ideation, that being, coming up with interesting ideas to structure and build start-ups around.

LUNCH AND LUNCH KEYNOTE – ELAINE KUNDA (11:30 – 1:00 PM)

“Charting Your Path In Uncharted Territory.”

C) UNUSUAL ECONOMIES (1:00 – 2:30 PM):

This workshop revolves around the intrinsic value to a city of items not traditionally or immediately considered, including heritage, culture, recreational spaces, and sustainability. It is being coordinated by the newly founded sustainable professionals network, and will include a wide swath of speakers, engaging the audience in a panel format on the aforementioned topics.
NOTE that this workshop runs concurrent to the Business Builder Workshop.

D) BUSINESS BUILDER WORKSHOP (1:00 – 2:30 PM):

This workshop will be structured like an entrepreneurial/start-up/small-business building “speed-dating” session, with representatives from a wide swath of professional services (anything from financial reps, to intellectual property lawyers, zoning and bylaws reps, retail model reps, marketing reps, networkers and mentors) situated around tables and discussing topics related to their professional area of expertise. Delegates will have the opportunity to move from table to table, so there should be a lot of high-energy conversation.
NOTE that this workshop runs concurrent to one on the topic of “Non-Traditional Economics,” that being, the intrinsic value to a community/municipality of items ranging from heritage and architecture, to nature conservancy, culture and recreational opportunities.

FINAL KEYNOTE AND RECEPTION – NEIL PASRICHA (3:00 – 5:00 PM)

TedXToronto Speaker, and The New York Times Bestselling Author of the Book of Awesome @ The 21st floor of Hamilton’s Stelco Tower
