Agritech Hackathon brings a unique approach to the event

The Town of Lincoln and Spark Lincoln are organizing an interesting take on the hackathon: Agritech Hackathon will bring together teams of 4 from grades 7 up to post-secondary students and working professionals to solve some of the issues faced by the agricultural, horticultural and ecotourism sectors as submitted by industry experts.

This is the second year of the event, and will be held online from November 6 – 8 with a special focus on economic recovery in light of the challenges brought about by COVID-19.

There will also be two levels of participants, with each level offering its own tier of prizes: students from grade 7 – 12 will have a chance to win $1,000 for first place, $700 for second place, and $500 for third place. For post-secondary and professional participants the prizes will be $3,000 for first place, $2,000 for second place, and $1,000 for third place.

There will also be a ‘mini-hack‘ for those who register by September 30th, where teams will be given the month of October to put together a pitch video for a chance to win up to $300.
